Not yet, anyhow. So we&#8217;ve been forced to borrow these images from Bruce Hershenson&#8217;s wonderful book <em>Cartoon Movie Posters<\/em> (1995).<\/p>\n<p>If there&#8217;s one classic Scrappy poster, this is probably it. Mysteriously, everybody is off-model except Margy&#8230;who looks great. (The poster continues the Mintz tradition of being vague on the exact names of the characters: &#8220;Margie,&#8221; &#8220;Oopie,&#8221; and &#8220;Yippie&#8221; are better known as Margy, Oopy, and Yippy.)<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Scrappy poster\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.scrappyland.com\/images\/posters\/scrappyoopie.jpg?resize=250%2C361\" alt=\"Scrappy poster\" width=\"250\" height=\"361\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Another stock poster. Scrappy, atypically, is wearing a striped long-sleeved shirt. And striped tights.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Scrappy poster\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.scrappyland.com\/images\/posters\/scrappy.jpg?resize=250%2C362\" alt=\"Scrappy poster\" width=\"250\" height=\"362\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On December 12th, 1932, Columbia released\u00a0<em>The Wolf at the Door<\/em>. Scrappy and Oopy were mounties. (We were about to accuse them of ripping off Nelson Eddy, but\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0028207\/\">Rose-Marie<\/a>\u00a0didn&#8217;t come out until 1936&#8211;maybe Nelson was ripping off\u00a0<em>Scrappy<\/em>.)<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re not sure how frequently Columbia used &#8220;The Mischief Kid of the Screen &#8221; as Scrappy&#8217;s tagline, but we like it.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Scrappy poster\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.scrappyland.com\/images\/posters\/wolf.jpg?resize=250%2C359\" alt=\"Scrappy poster\" width=\"250\" height=\"359\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The same artist was clearly responsible for the poster for\u00a0<em>The False Alarm\u00a0<\/em>, which was released on April 22nd, 1933. Scrappy may look brave here, but\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.scrappyland.com\/blog\/animania1\">Etcheverry and Friedwald<\/a>\u00a0say that he&#8217;s &#8220;unbelievably inept&#8221; in the cartoon itself.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Scrappy poster\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.scrappyland.com\/images\/posters\/falsealarm.jpg?resize=250%2C338\" alt=\"Scrappy poster\" width=\"250\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Finally, the poster for <em>Doctor Bluebird<\/em>, released on February 5th, 1936 in the Color Rhapsody series. We haven&#8217;t seen this short, but we&#8217;re inclined to believe it&#8217;s second-rate Scrappy based on the poster alone.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Scrappy poster\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.scrappyland.com\/images\/posters\/bluebird.jpg?resize=250%2C355\" alt=\"Scrappy poster\" width=\"250\" height=\"355\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>August 2005 Bad news: The National Scrappy Gallery&#8217;s holdings don&#8217;t include a single actual Scrappy theatrical poster.
