Again, you can&#8217;t really say that Scrappy and Oopy are drawn on-model&#8211;if there <em>is<\/em> such a thing as drawing them on-model&#8211;but you also can&#8217;t say that the drawing fails to capture their essence. And that&#8217;s one swell pumpkin in the foreground.<\/p>\n<p>Next we have the box that the filmstrips came in&#8211;Set 60, to be exact, from a company with the wonderully prosaic name Durable Toy &amp; Novelty Corp. (Then again, the box and films are in excellent shape, seventy years later&#8211;guess they earned that moniker.)<\/p>\n<p>The set included <em>Holiday Land<\/em>, <em>Scrappy&#8217;s Birthday Party<\/em>, <em>Toy Shop<\/em> (2 reels), and <em>Babes in the Woods<\/em> (2 reels). Mysteriously, the strips include the credit &#8220;Directed by Ted Eshbaugh Studios.&#8221; Perhaps the Eshbaugh shop, which is famous today only for being obscure, provided the filmstrips&#8217; artwork.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Scrappy film box\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.scrappyland.com\/images\/gallery\/unclesam.jpg?resize=349%2C372\" alt=\"Scrappy film box\" width=\"349\" height=\"372\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The filmstrips were accompanied by 78rpm records&#8211;yes, Scrappy records!
