Co., Inc. for the Great Lakes Novelty Co. of Chicago. He&#8217;s unmistakably Scrappy, even he doesn&#8217;t look all <em>that<\/em> much like Scrappy. Even in later years, when Scrappy looked a bit less like a bobblehead doll than he did at first, his proportions weren&#8217;t this realistic. And the expression is just a tad too blandly cherubic.<\/p>\n<p>Then there are those eyes. That doll has the tallest pupils I&#8217;ve ever seen on anybody or anything. Period.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and he seems to be wearing flesh-colored gloves &#8212; although I suppose it&#8217;s possible they were once white and got painted over at some point in the past seventy-seven years.<\/p>\n<p>The badge which Scrappy is wearing &#8212; which, full disclosure, I actually acquired on another example of this doll which was in less pleasing condition &#8212; is worth zooming in on:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.scrappyland.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/scrappytag.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[tag]\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-550\" title=\"Scrappy tag\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.scrappyland.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/scrappytag.jpg?resize=450%2C446\" alt=\"Scrappy tag\" width=\"450\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.scrappyland.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/scrappytag.jpg?w=900&amp;ssl=1 900w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.scrappyland.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/scrappytag.jpg?resize=150%2C148&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.scrappyland.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/scrappytag.jpg?resize=300%2C297&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.scrappyland.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/scrappytag.jpg?resize=400%2C396&amp;ssl=1 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It suggests that there may have been a serious problem with fake Scrappy dolls in the mid-1930s. The Stooges&#8217; version has what seem to be soft fabric hands.
